Yessss!!! The tree is an actual structure. Dr. Leaf, you are wonderful. I have MS, that went undiagnosed for way too many years. I experienced what they thought was TMI in the 1970's, (yes I am older than dirt). I did not have the choice to not get back my functioning, to some extent, being the mother of two small children. I told my doctors I did not believe that I could not get better. I am sure they had a good laugh at me after I left. I did not care, but they lost my confidence right then and there. I knew I was on my own, and I did a damn good job of moving on, rebuilding my tree, many times over, and I only wish I could tell them now what I have done with my life, in spite of their not believing that I would ever even walk again, be able to learn again, etc. You are my hero, Dr. Leaf.

Excellent interview! Dr Leaf reminds me of the process I go through in Buddhist meditation: aware of your thoughts and observe the thoughts following it until it’s gone, no judgment or trying to get rid of it. But the same thoughts are always there in the next meditation. So, I’ll try this process of 5 steps to actively manage and change my mind. I experienced depression and anxiety and during that time, I define it as a mental illness because it is what is taught by society but few months ago I start defining it as a phenomenon wherein our brain gives us a signal to gradually change our mindset, micro-habits, choices and goals because the old ones do not serve your purpose in relation to the current situation. With the fast changing world due to growth in technology, human as we are naturally & scientifically will experience this phenomenon because we need to be open to change to cope up with how the modern world works today. We are living in the future and many will experience mental rebooting and can be in a form of depressionand anxiety therefore we need to adapt to it through mindful living. As humans, we have the responsibility to educate ourselves & others on how to balance the energy between human intelligence and artificial intelligence.

This is so fascinating! It makes me concerned that so many younger generations are barely required to physically write on paper with the ability to type or or just dictate most school work. We’re on our way to people signing their name with an X.
She does such a great job of explaining!! I noticed how her 5 steps are the very steps that The Work of Byron Katie takes you through. I have changed my brain quickly by doing The Work and then to fulfill Dr. Leaf's step 5, I continue doing Inquiry each day. I have completely rewired my brain to be happy, healthy and much, much younger as a result of doing The Work for a few months.

Great topic just from the kick start about identity. I am from Barcelona, Spain, but i have always been more comfortable around foreigners. I was sent to London and Dublin every summer with a host family to learn English since i was 15 years old. Back home, i would help foreigners getting lost in the city so i could practise English (at that time not so many people spoke English in my city). I always had foreign friends and then travelled for a year to Taiwan when i fell in love with Asia so after several years my company transferred me to Shanghai where i have been happily living for soon 6 years. When i go to Spain everybody asks me when i will go back for good, but i dont see myself going back ever. I am so happy being constantly out of my cmfort zone here. In china everything is so different and i have to keep so open minded and learning so many new skills to adapt and become tolerant. I do not feel i have roots in Spain which is crazy for some people because i am Spanish, but even when i count in my mind, i count in English and I dream in English. When im back home everybody thinks im a foreigner for my strange accent and because im pretty fair skin...anyways, just in Xmas i got a birth chart as a gift and guess what it said: she is happy living abroad. It stroke me. I do feel Shanghai is my home and despite i adore Barcelona and my family is there, i cannot see myself leaving Chins. Maybe my ancestors were Asian 😜
I’ve met many fair Spaniards. Glad you feel International. Am not a Spaniard but In Spain or Mediterranean countries no matter the language I feel at home. So I completely understand you.
Elizabeth Wilk fortunately, we are all becoming more international and interacting way more with other cultures which is great and enriching. The mediterranean countries are so beautiful and they have great food 🤣 i love italy and portugal and of course spain but not for living, perfect for holiday 🥰
For me, since learning in my youth the impact of my interpretations (what you're calling "choose" in the think, feel, choose), the question I approach life with has always been: How do I choose to relate to this? I've taught my children this: You can't change what has happened, but how you choose to interpret it (that is the meaning you choose to give it for you) can change everything about your experience. I have come to consider Self not as my thoughts, but as Perspective. Ultimately, everything else is manipulable. Perception can be pointed on a vector, it can travel through mental landscapes and be biased, but perceiving is the constant, and the only thing I relate with Self. How I choose to point and filter that perception into a perspective...that is me. I am reminded of something fundamental that I read long ago: "Truth is not found in the thing observed, or in the observer, but between them". I'm sure I'm paraphrasing. I wish I could remember the source.
Does she say in her channel that she’s telling everyone that she’s a neuroscientist when she really isn’t ???? Check it out. When I first heard her, I was completely taken over but a friend of mine stated that someone who lies about her credentials, isn’t a trustworthy person.

I love her! Great interview with plenty of information! i noticed Tom Cutting abit into it while she was talking! But then a realized that In my experience with this interview it was sort of a break to reflect on the Information that she's giving! being that she talks fast! My mind unconsciously shut off without me know but the "breaks" brought me back on track! saying this again! one of the best people you have had on the show for me.
This is life changing information. I first learned about neuroplasticity 5 years ago at 19. It changed my life then but I did not have all the specifics she just walked through. I'm going to have to do more research on her 7 steps she speaks of.
Proverbs 23:7 “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” A literal translation of the Hebrew is: “as anyone estimates themselves, that is what they become. As a Christian, I began to confess, out loud, “I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me, yes I am ready for anything and equal to everything thru Christ who infuses me with inner strength.” It changed everything. The key to the Power of God is “The renewed mind.” Everything Dr. Leaf is teaching is proving the Word of God to be true. Thank you.
Great interview! I love it! She puts such complex matter down in a way that it’s easy to follow. Usually I would increase the speed of a video with this one I did slow it down at some points.
In my opinion, fast speaking people are advance thinkers. In my humble way, I can keep up with her. I tend to get mentally disconnected & distracted with slow speaking people.
Fantastic content. Wholly her neurones are firing super quick and she talks just as fast. Gave my grey-matter a work out trying to keep up. Thanks for sharing such life-changing content.

Dear Mr Bilyeu and Dr Leaf, Thank you Mr Bilyeu for your brilliant way to breakdown concepts into understandable soundbites that everyone can understand. Thank you Dr Leaf for your interesting theories, but I am bailing out at 13: 23 because you talk so fast that I cannot follow the logic of your ideas, although I know you have a lot of good things to tell us. You have to realize that Mr Bilyeu's show is reaching an international audience so you have to dial down the speed of delivery a bit so those of us across the world can tune in to your message.
OMG !! a BRILLIANT MIND !! :) ..Thank you soooo much , it was extremely interesting, powerful and useful information to bring into our life .. I really appreciated that you can share this with all of us .. Thank you and Tom you are incredible !! all your questions are so perfect ! as it is exactly what we desire to ask as well :) Thank you both ..Namaste !!
Brilliant lady ... the developing of mind ie our thinking which is highly influenced by our identity ... and the link to neurones ... however autism which is my research ... this is us through intervention that moulds the minds of the children
Being able to control biological age is just a by product of mind management, being able to manage your mind has huge benefits for humans and hence I think the title of this video does not do justice to the topic. She explained wonderfully how mind works and while you understand it at an intellectual level when she explains it so clearly, the real change can happen only when you practice it in real life and the one method I found super useful is Vipassana, try going for 11 day silence retreat at Vipassana center (mindfulness as taught by Gautam Buddha 2500 years back) and then S.N. Goenka in recent times, super helpful technique that has practical benefits in real life.
You live 2 lives - one externally and one internally. The inner life needs time, reflection, self-compassion and self-care. Our fear of what we will find on the inside makes our myriad defence mechanisms so much easier to stomach, and so we fail to experience our humanity. It takes great courage to be with ourselves.
Excellent video. I found it interesting Tom that you connected with the character who was able to recognize that there were others around him that were smarter and he didn't quite match or level up to that. People have different types of intelligences. My husband would say my intellectual intelligence is far above what he understands, however he is one of the most social and emotionally intelligent people I've ever met. I've always thought you were a pretty smart guy. You have an intelligent way of being present and listening to the conversation or information being presented, and then go off script and be able to ask pertinent questions in the moment, which is one of the things I appreciate about your show. You're asking questions that is I'm listening to information I myself am having. Great job
NOTES & BASIC IDEAS
The cycle of think-feel-choose is what shapes your identity
Thoughts are like trees - with new experiences and memories they expand and grow
There is no normal brain, and the whole mental health movement is focused on diagnosing “illnesses” without considering each individual story
The large waves out at sea are delta waves
Waves closer to the beach not as big as delta are theta waves (unconscious mind)
Waves closer to the beach not as big as theta are alpha waves
Waves closer than alpha with the white crest are high beta waves
The little ripple onto the beach is gamma waves
Gamma and beta are most associated with consciousness
Alpha allows you to access deep-sea waves while being aware of shallow waves
Mind management ("thought autopsy") - 1) messy write out thoughts, 2) analyze thoughts for patterns, 3) choose action based on patterns
It takes about 3 weeks to build a long-term memory (a "tree" with information and emotions)
It takes about 9 weeks to turn long-term memory into usable memory (a habit)
It takes at least 2 to 3 months to change your identity
When the identity of your deep mind starts changing, it may be months before you see or feel it happening
With emotionally charged mental health work (trauma, identity, etc) spending only 7-30 minutes a day is best
Thoughts are physical things that occupy mental real estate like a house occupies land
Change can occur soon with the right work, but it takes months for the proteins to stabilize in the brain
Brilliant thanks for notes, very clear (UK)
Thanks!!
Excellent notes thank you.

I had to slow her voice speed down to .75. So grateful for this feature.
Yes i agree. And to think, lots of people speed her up! Lol
☺ yes! I'll try that. Good idea!
Incredibly interesting - Tom coming up trumps with top content as ever
Update guys! Completed reading another book. Book count: 276 :)
bnsgokugreat Good for you!! 🤓📚How do you find the time?? I have books stacked up all around me!! Loll, I think I’ll pick one up for a few minutes before I get out of bed and get going-this is the only time I’m still until it’s time to sleep again-And then I’m too sleepy to read!! 😵 Thanks for the inspiration~sort of!👍🏼😎
I looked at your channel and subscribed (I guess that’s what you were after :) You follow many of the same people I do-most of my channel is private, you can’t see my lists... But may I suggest Alan Watts to you... 🌟🔥🌟!!
Diane Ra Hey!!! Thanks. I have been updating this book count here before I posted videos. I update here because it is my accountability partner for book reading. Please do ask any questions you have regarding book reading. I would love to assist 😊
The most important book to read is that which is your experiences, through meditation. It is from this book that we gain insights, draw wisdom and attain clarity.
Mike Q Yup! Self-reflection is always the best book. 😊😊😊 But, reading books made me to gain this wisdom 😊😊😊
I smile with joy after watching the whole video. Amazing & valuable. Thank you Tom & Dr. Leaf. More power to both of you! Cheers! 🥂💖🙂
Love this lady her work is changing my life!
Wow she loaded up the show in one go. Thanks for having her on Tom, I really miss the production qualities you had of your shows and the real injections of both host and guest. Hope sometime In the future you bring back that format with all things considered. Have a great day Tom!
Recognizing the individual. Measuring one against oneself.
Thank you for this breakdown.
Thank you so much for the amazing interview with Dr. Leaf. I have benefited so much.
🦋that’s why your mind is power - that’s why surrounding yourself with positivity is crucial
Dr. Caroline Leaf has her own RUclips channel , check her out. I’ve read all her books , she’s brilliant!
Does she say in her channel that she’s telling everyone that she’s a neuroscientist when she really isn’t ???? Check it out.
When I first heard her, I was completely taken over but a friend of mine stated that someone who lies about her credentials, isn’t a trustworthy person.
@@indiracamotim2858 sadly true.... she is not. She has not have medical background. Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology.
That is the reason that people call her "Dr."...
Almost everything and specifically awareness is age old concepts of yoga and Hinduism - ‘Who Am I’ is a huge concept in yogic practices. Just westernized here. Alan Singer explains it really well in the book - the untethered soul.
She is truly brilliant, but between her accent and her rapid fire delivery, it was almost exhausting trying to listen to her; it practically gave me a headache! Someone she tell her that she absolutely should slow down...
Love Dr Caroline Leaf!! She Is Brilliant!!!
Tom your questions are great
But: please let her finish talking completely, even you think people can't understand that or you wanna expand that...
And Thanks a lot, Dr. Caroline... Best informations i could have...
This is not a TED talk he did a great job summarizing what she is saying and moving on to the next part otherwise she looks like she would just go on and on and on and on and on
LOVE THIS!!!! Thankyou for interviewing Dr.Caroline Leaf 🧡❤💜💚💙💛
any time she says "it's like" you can bet its gonna be analogy none of relate to. appreciate Tom asking so many question to pull actionable steps out. great video.
Love it Tom. Thank you for your efforts to share these life giving people. And thank you Dr Caroline Leaf. Love you.

Total confirmation of what I have Instinctively been doing; The Meditation, Journaling, dealing learning how to increase my understanding. "As a man thinks in his heart so is he. Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7. Thanks for sharing and educating everyone view. January 17, 2021
Thank you for this amazing video. Since I was 13 years old I write a diary/journal/free writing and I value writing on a paper . I remember also making a vision board when I was 12 years old onwhat I want I want to happen in my life at age 30 and it all happened. My diary/journaling reminds me always of my goal. After a my depression and anxiety, I create a new vision board which I want to reach for another 20 years. Now I understand the scientific explanation of how writing /journaling really helps.
To everyone reading this, I pray God sends the kind of blessings in to your life that keep you smiling and happy all the time. I pray that God removes everything that keeps causing you tears and miserable moments. Because you truly deserve better.
Ameen!
God bless you
Amen May God bless you and may your life be filled with love joy and peace in abundance.
Amen!
Wish you the same!!!

She's phenomenal..Thank you Dr 🍃 Leaf..
She is so much eager to spit out all she knows.. and lovely accent 😊
I love the speed at wish she talks and the authority she bares.
Caroline Leaf is the best!! This is going to be great!
First time I've heard of her and i'm loving it!
holy shit! this lady and her ideas are amazing!
The mind will either build you or fail you.Have you ever wondered why what you think is always your result? Its the type of mindset..
Exactly
LOVE..Oh my Goodness🙏💗 Thank you both, I could've listened to this topic all day! Book pre-ordered✔ 🤗💕
The key to the Power of God is “The renewed mind.”
Everything Dr. Leaf is teaching is proving the Word of God to be true. Thank you.
This was awesome. I see it as the science behind Bob Proctor thinking into results program. Thank you for this episode.
This lady is fantastic. Loved it.
That was interesting , thank you so much Tom 🙏!! Have a blessed day!!
I was wishing to happen this podcast from the last year , I love Carolines speede information flow ,
thank you Tom
Great interview! I love it! She puts such complex matter down in a way that it’s easy to follow. Usually I would increase the speed of a video with this one I did slow it down at some points.
In my opinion, fast speaking people are advance thinkers. In my humble way, I can keep up with her. I tend to get mentally disconnected & distracted with slow speaking people.
You take very fast doc ..thanks for all the knowledge and learning..
This content really spoke to me. Thanks Dr for sharing your ideas and experience.
Wow.... she speaks really fast. Great content. Thank you.
Too fast to digest. Shame as her message is excellent.
We can change the speed. This helps to low down her deliverance. Go to top right, click on the 3 dots ,, stroll down, you will see speed control.
Fantastic content. Wholly her neurones are firing super quick and she talks just as fast. Gave my grey-matter a work out trying to keep up. Thanks for sharing such life-changing content.
Yeah, I love Dr. Leaf, I just wish she would slow her pace a little bit. It made it hard to keep up.
We are immortal. Make greatness in this world.
Happy to see she’s finally on your show
Thank you Dr. Leaf
*you've helped make sense of so many little broken parts of me that I can't thank you enough, I adore this channel* 💕💕
I absolutely love this episode!! DR. LEAF YOU DID AGAIN! God Bless you 🙏🏽. A sister in Christ serving through knowledge. I myself on a path to neuro-psychology for my Doctoral degree. Dr. LEAF YOU INSPIRE ME!! Tom you are the MAN!!
Thank you.
You are NOT broken, you haven't learned Yet ;) repeat 7 times per day. I'm not broken I just have not learned enough yet!
Yes! You have Dr Leaf!!!!!
If you find the content valuable slow the playback speed down and re-listen to it.

She is wonderful with so much pure wisdom and beauty just reflecting strongly from her being.
God bless u both

Then I’m becoming a beer can... lol
@@hugolols55 Yes, an empty one! :-)
@Slim Shady Que?
@Slim Shady Thinking you will become, is not being. It's not even becoming.
Yeah... shit, circumstance challenges that every chance, every step of the way.
South Africa represent !!!!! 🇿🇦
Hi from South Africa 💛✊
Great content I'd love for you to have her back on your program!
OMG !! a BRILLIANT MIND !!
Lower the playback setting. You're welcome.
A wonderful interview!! Wonderful information! Thank you!
Thank you Thank you Thank you for speaking slowly l love to listen to your thoughts They are beautiful
Great job
Practice makes perfect
Anointed to help millions Leaf! Lets get this folks, God wants us to let the Holy Spirit guide us into taking excellent care of ourselves!
My mum would love this 🙏🏿💯
